Universal (formally known as CES) was established in 1976 by its senior partner Colin Smith. The introduction of his two son’s Chris and Graham to the company, has seen the company rapidly grow from supplying local garages and shops in London, to supplying market leading Motor Factors and nationwide trade and retail outlets. Universal also now exports products to many countries worldwide.

Universal has its own workshops for remanufacturing equiped with the latest testing equipment, this enables us to provide an excellent technical help line and an after sales support and backup service for free.

Universal has built up a valuable reputation for supplying parts not only for Car and Commercial vehicles, but more specialised vehicles such as Agricultural, Fork Trucks, Lawnmowers, Marine, Motorbike and Plant.

We have recently introduced a range of units covering the European and Japanese market. They are sold as outright purchase so no exchange unit required. Please ask our sales team for more information on the part numbers available.

At Universal we can build “High Output” alternators to “200 amps”, just let us know your vehicle details and we will build you one! Highly polished chrome alternators and starter motors are also available, ideal for the car and show enthusiast this will give your vehicle that finishing touch.

Universal has over 5,000 part numbers available from stock, if the part you require is not in stock, we can provide a reconditioning service on your old unit normally within 24 hours. This has become an invaluable service to our customers and one we pride ourselves on achieving.
